Who Is he

Octavian Leyva Dragomir was born in 1997. Raised in Stockholm by Romanian-Colombian parents. The passion for the art song repertoire was awakened at the music high school, Lilla Akademien, and his studies then continued at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.

He has also studied at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona and Vadstena Singing and Piano Academy. After the bachelor's degree from the Royal College of Music he is currently studying his master at Edsberg castle campus in Stockholm. At the moment he studies for Mats Widlund and Staffan Sandström.

He has received guidance in the Lieder repertoire from i.a. Assumpta Mateu, Magnus Svensson, Anne Sofie von Otter, Mats Jansson and Martin Katz.

Anna Bæk Christensen and Octavian Leyva Dragomir won in January 2023 the newly instituted Dorothy Irving Scholarship consisting of a large prize sum and a concert in the Grünewald Hall in Stockholm's Concert House. 2023 he also received third prize in Copenhagen Lied Duo Competition. In 2021 he participated in The Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Voice-Piano Competition and in 2022 became one of the prize winners at the Gothenburg International Piano Competition. Recently he played on Swedish National TV on Allsång på Skansen.
